The belle époque of the Atlantic
Modernist Las Palmas
When the steamships came, the city dressed itself in tropical Art Nouveau. Its finest details were never meant for the casual eye.
"Triana was the catwalk of a city that had suddenly grown rich — and wanted the whole Atlantic to know."

Das Erlebnis
Triana, the boulevard of a boom
When the Puerto de la Luz opened the island to world trade, money poured into Las Palmas and architects answered with curves of stone, stained glass and wrought iron. The pedestrian street of Triana became a showcase of Modernismo. This game asks you to read those façades like a code — the kind only an architect would notice.

Wahre Geschichte
A street that wore its wealth
In 1883 the engineer Juan de León y Castillo began the great harbour of La Luz, turning Las Palmas into a coaling station for the whole Atlantic.
Fortunes rose overnight, and between 1900 and 1930 the new bourgeoisie rebuilt Triana in Modernismo — sinuous balconies, floral mouldings, the Gabinete Literario and the Teatro Pérez Galdós.
Much of it survives above the shop signs. Look up, and the boom of a century ago is still on display.
