True history

A people written in stone

The first Canarians probably arrived from North Africa around two thousand years ago, bringing barley, goats and a Libyco-Berber script.

They built painted granaries, carved spirals into cliff walls and mummified their dead — a world the Castilian conquest of 1478–1483 swept away within a generation.

Today El Museo Canario in Vegueta guards their skulls, idols and pintaderas, while their place-names still cling to every ravine of the island.

The journey

4 steps. One secret.

Carved spirals

Spirals and lines carved by the Canarii hide a number. Translate the script the way an islander would have.

Act 3

The granary

Stores of the mountain

Painted silos kept the harvest safe for years. Work out which chamber the elders trusted with their seed.

Act 4

The sky-watchers

A mountain sanctuary

The Canarii read the solstices from high almogarenes. Align the final clue with the rising sun to finish.
